Hey, Check this Out! Climate Migration

As young adults are coming of age, they are faced with the pressing question of where to live. This is a difficult choice to make, and in doing so you must examine the housing market and night life and find out if it's a walking friendly city. Enjoy the warm weather? Thinking of Houston, Miami, or Phoenix? Maybe think again. Many of us are focused on the surface of what it means to move to another city, but what dangers are we overlooking? As the earth warms, it is evident that our planet is changing, and this could put some of the United States most popular cities in peril due to climate change.

In the article I read for this assignment it was stated that, "Climate damage will wreak havoc on the southern third of the country, erasing more than 8% of its economic output and likely turning migration from a choice to an imperative." Even this year we have seen the dangers of our environments; large fires in California and Australia, hurricane after hurricane hitting the Louisiana coast. With an increase in these instances, it highly likely that many people living in these areas will have to relocate. This wave of mass migration will likely have a huge impact on population densities, and will leave many people scrambling to find a home. Places that have been habitable for years will become uninhabitable, and many will have to move North to simply survive

However, the opposite is occuring. People are moving south to warmer locations, that will soon be dramatically changed. It is estimated that Texas farmland will be changed forever, and that Louisiana will suffer severe flooding. This will not only be impacting the environment, but the economy as well. Minorities such as people of color and poor people will be disproportionately impacted by these changes.

Given what is said above, it is vital that we implement the necessary changes right now to slow down global warming. There is no possible way we are not going to feel the repercussions of our actions from the past, but in our modern era we have the capability to create an eco friendly system.
